Welcome to Yeoval
The village of Yeoval, established in 1868 during the gold, silver, and copper rush, is home to several historic buildings from that era. Banjo Paterson, one of Australia’s most renowned poets, spent his early childhood at the family property Buckinbah, which inspired works such as "First Impressions." To celebrate this connection, the town features the Banjo Paterson Bush Park and the Poet’s Walk, which includes one of Australia’s largest public artworks—a bronze sculpture by Henry Moore, donated by the Waterhouse family. Other attractions include the historic O'Hallaran Cottage and a classic country pub that offers meals and accommodations.
Don't miss the annual Banjo Paterson Poetry Festival, which draws bush poets, literature enthusiasts, and novices from all over Australia to the Orange Region. This unique celebration is filled with spirited poetry competitions, music and art events, regional food and wine, and enchanting performances of bush poetry and storytelling.
